Butterflies!

Normally, I am way too impatient to photograph butterflies, but yesterday we went for a hike and they were everywhere. They still didn’t quite agree to pose like they do in ‘pro’ photographs but hey, at least they stuck around long enough to get some snapshots done. Here comes:

There was also a couple with … umm, reduced mobility, I guess?

Of course the grass blades refused to get out of the way, obscuring the beetle (who was posing along with the butterfly) in a most unflattering way.

Finally there’s one that I’m almost happy with.

Some Macro Shots

I am a big fan of macro photography. I own a 60mm EF-S lens, which I used for all the shots below. In particular, I really like close-up insect photos and of course I am way too lazy and impatient to take many of those. So here come two, a fly (possibly retarded, given it sat there for minutes ignoring my lens):

and a butterfly (less patient, and accordingly heavily cropped):

Flowering plants probably come close second; they don’t need to be fancy flowers, I quite like this snapshot of common clover:

but I especially love daisies. Somehow, they look amazing in close-up…

but I guess young roses are OK too:
